Black & Gold

Nothing carries gold quite like black. In the courts of the past, the most precious embroideries and prints were laid on the darkest grounds, so that every gilded line would glow as if lit from within. Zarposh Atelier 04 follows that old instinct: a deep black raw silk, printed by hand under the eye of Samina Butt with flowering buti in antique gold, rose pink and soft sage.

The shirt is scattered with upright floral sprays, each one picked out in gold and touched with pink and green. The matching black dupatta carries the same buti across its length and is framed by a wide gilded border of fine floral bands, finished with an ornate pallu at each end. Dramatic yet refined, it is a suit made for evenings that deserve to be remembered.

The Zarposh Collection

Zarposh is Kalamkaari's expression of luxury through gold. Inspired by the richness of South Asian heritage textiles, each design pairs gold detailing with intricate motifs and deep, jewel-toned colour, created to feel grand on the day and timeless for years after.

The Shirt

A deep black raw silk ground hand block printed with upright floral buti in antique gold, each touched with rose pink and sage green. The motifs are placed in even rows, giving the shirt a calm, regal rhythm.

The Dupatta

Black raw silk printed with the same flowering buti, framed by a wide gilded border of fine floral bands and finished with an ornate pallu. It brings the full richness of the gold to the ensemble and drapes beautifully over one shoulder or both.

The Trouser

A plain black raw silk trouser completes the set, a clean foundation that lets the gold detailing lead.

Styling

Black and gold invite statement jewellery. Pair Atelier 04 with antique gold jhumkas, a kundan or polki choker and gold embellished khussas. For weddings and formal evenings, let the gilded border frame the shoulders; for a quieter look, keep the jewellery to a single pair of earrings and let the print speak.

Craftsmanship & Print Variation

Every Kalamkaari piece is printed by hand, block by block. Slight variations in placement, depth of colour and texture are the signature of the artisan's hand, and make each piece entirely its own.

Colour Note

Colours may appear slightly different on screen due to photography, lighting and display settings.

Caring for Your Raw Silk

Hand block printed raw silk is a living textile. Treated gently, it will keep its texture and the clarity of every impression for years to come.

  • Dry clean only is recommended, to protect both the raw silk and the hand-printed colours.
  • If hand washing is unavoidable, use cold water and a mild, pH-neutral silk detergent. Wash separately and do not soak.
  • Never wring or twist. Press out water gently, roll in a clean towel and dry flat in the shade.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight, which can fade natural block print colours.
  • Iron on the reverse at a low silk setting, with a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric. Never iron directly onto the gold print.
  • Apply perfume and deodorant before dressing, never directly onto the fabric.
  • Store folded in a muslin or cotton cloth, never in plastic, in a cool, dry place. Refold occasionally along new lines so creases do not set.
